The much-loved western open world title Red Dead Redemption will receive its long-awaited sequel in the autumn of 2017, it has been confirmed by developers Rockstar Games.

The American company, who are famed for producing the Grand Theft Auto franchise, made the announcement today on their official Facebook page, with an accompanying link to a section of their site with additional information and links to their social media platforms.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is an epic tale of life in America’s unforgiving heartland”, the page states. “The game’s vast and atmospheric world will also provide the foundation for a brand new online multiplayer experience”.

Although little is known about the sequel’s new gameplay features, there is much hype and speculation amongst fans on social media, with some speculating that the narrative of Read Dead Redemption 2 narrative will act as a prequel to the original title.

Red Dead Redemption was released in 2010, and proved massively popular with gamers and critics alike, its reviews scoring highly across the board.

The official trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2 will be released at 11:00 AM Eastern ( 4:00 PM GMT) on Thursday,October 20th, and can be found on the Rockstar Facebook page, at rockstargames.com, and the company’s official YouTube and Twitch pages.
